Among the secrets of Mines

The Costa Verde is a land of ghost mining towns. The main sites, now disused, are Ingurtosu and Montevecchio.

Ingurtosu untouched nature is united to one of civilization's most interesting mining. Everything is still as it once was: the buildings, factories, wells, tunnels, all abandoned in the sixties after the exhaustion of the lines of lead and zinc.

If Ingurtosu captures all the charm of nature and the silence of Montevecchio is the mine of records: more than one hundred kilometers of galleries, the Pit (350 meters), the largest outdoor laundry, built in 1877.

Montevecchio is like a big museum, above and below ground, just think that enjoys a collection of buildings and machinery that would not shame the old mines of continental Europe. Now you can go into the wells, visit the galleries, climb in the old iron and wood balconies, push yourself the nearby woods. The ideal route to visit these places is the coast road at the height of Funtanazza, divides to continue to the mountains, to Montevecchio.
